Indiana-PAW Pet Of The Week Sponsored By
GiGi
Background: At 6 months old, she's basically a stunning striped ball of energy. GiGi loves to play with anything and everything, whether it squeaks, used to squeak, rolls, bounces, or doesn't do anything at all. Maybe you'd like to bring GiGi into your family?
Gender: Female
Breed: Pit bull Terrier
Approximate Age: 7 months
Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, GiGi is spayed!
Vaccinations: Yes, GiGi is up-to-date on all her vaccinations!
Housetrained: Yes, GiGi is house-trained and crate-trained! She stands by the door when she needs to go out, and will whine if you haven't noticed her. She'll let you know when she's ready to come back in, too, since she doesn't like to be away from her people too long.
Compatibility with Children: Since GiGi is still a puppy, she would do best in a family with older children.
Compatibility with Other Animals: There should be no cats or small dogs or small animals in GiGi's new home. Some dogs she is great with others not so much.
Personality: GiGi was pulled from a county shelter and placed in Casa Del Toro's adoption program. She loves to fetch, and will even throw the toy for herself if no one else does. She also loves other dogs, though they don't always love her back. She plays rough, and tends to come on a bit strong, so it'd be great if her forever home had a 4-legged brother or sister with as much energy as she has. This is a pretty smart dog. She already had "sit" almost perfected when she came to me, so now we're working on "down," which she's slowly getting the hang of, "stay," which she's doing surprisingly well with, and "leave it" with both food and toys. She's doing VERY well with "leave it." Her foster mom can put a treat or bowl of food on the floor in front of her or a treat on her hand right in front of her nose and tell her to leave it, and she will sit patiently until she gets the ok. She hasn't shown any signs of food or toy possessiveness, and is more than happy to let you take things away from her. Like most pit bulls, GiGi is extremely affectionate and loves to be cuddled. She'll sit for as long as you're willing to pet and hug her. She always likes to know where her person is, and will follow right behind you -- don't stop too suddenly! :-) -- wherever you go. Then she'll sit patiently waiting for you, and will follow you right back. GiGi, again like most Pitties, is very athletic and will need a home with secure fencing. She can already jump a baby gate like it's nothing, and her foster mom has no doubt she will graduate to something taller if given the opportunity.
Ideal Home: GiGi's ideal home would be with someone who would love to give her a job to do, this dog is very smart and when out in public, displays herself as a perfect little miss, we are proud of her. Her foster mom said they are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about pit bulls or very willing to learn ALL the aspects of what she needs as an animal, a dog and as a pit bull terrier. Casa Del Toro is looking for someone who can consciously commit to the next 15 years of their lives to share with her.
To Adopt: If you are interested in adopting or meeting GiGi please contact Casa Del Toro Bully Breed Rescue & Education at adoptions@casadeltoro.org and fill out an application at: http://www.casadeltoro.org/application.html.
Angelica
Background: Angelica is another pretty girl with a sad story. Angie was part of a shelter seizure from an owner that was starving her and keeping her chained 24/7. But now she's feeling great and looking for a new home - maybe yours.
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepard mix
Approximate Age: 2-3 years old
Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Angelica is spayed!
Vaccinations: Yes, Angelica is up-to-date on all her vaccinations!
Housetrained: Angelica has been crate-trained.
Personality: Angelica is slightly shy with strangers due to her history, but quickly warms up to you. She's very bouncy and playful, and can't get enough love once she trusts you. Angelica loves to put her head in your lap and soak up attention!
Ideal Home: Angelica's ideal home would be with pretty much anyone who has had dogs before with a little patience and some love to spare!
To Adopt: If interested in adopting Angelica or just learning more about her, contact Midwest Friends of Animals via e-mail PETFRIENDSGC@aol.com or visit their website http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/IN217.html.
Shelby - ADOPTED!
Background: This tall, lean girl is Shelby. She was found as a stray, so we don't know much about her, but she is a sweet, gentle soul looking for a home.
Gender: Female
Breed: Walker Coon Hound
Approximate Age: 2-3 years old
Spay/Neuter Status: No, Shelby is not spayed yet.
Vaccinations: Yes, Shelby is up-to-date on all her vaccinations and she's tested heartworm negative!
Housetrained: We don't know if Shelby is housetrained, but we're sure she'd learn quickly.
Personality: Shelby is a very sweet and gentle natured girl, who just loves to play with her tennis ball.
Ideal Home: Shelby's ideal home would be one with a fenced yard, and perhaps children or another canine playmate.
To Adopt: For more information about adopting Shelby, contact the Whitley Co. Animal Shelter at 260-244-6664 or via e-mail at dirhswc@yahoo.com. They can also be found on the web at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IN159.html
